A number of years ago, I was
driving on a long, lonely road in the prairies of Alberta . The sky was becoming extremely dark
and foreboding.
"Oh, no!" I thought
to myself. "There is going to be a thunderstorm!"
Then as I drove up a long hill, two
rainbows appeared in the sky. On the far side of the hill, there was a huge,
open field to my right. Here, the ends of both rainbows appeared to touch the
ground there.
Fascinated by what I saw, I
stopped the car and got out to take a better look. Unfortunately, my passenger preferred to sit in the car and wait.
Where the ends of the rainbows were
in contact with the lush green, prairie grass, I saw what I could only describe as a four pots of gold kind of experience. I was astonished and
wondered if I should walk out into the field, but I realized that it was more
than likely a momentary illusion. What a wonderful picture!
A gentle, misty breeze touched
my face, as I looked up at the double rainbow that was now directly overhead. I seemed
to be standing under the archway formed by the highest rainbow. The sky appeared
to be divided into distinct areas of light gray, a darker gray and a very dark
gray, separated by the two rainbows. I stood there for a moment, totally
transfixed by what I saw.
A few moments later, I heard distinct rumbles of thunder in the distance.
Directly ahead, I could see the foothills
of the majestic, Rocky Mountains, stretching
from north to south, with dark clouds billowing over the lofty mountain
peaks. Occasional flashes of lighting were visible on the horizon. It was
gorgeous to behold, but foreboding at the same time, because of the pending storm.
I decided to head directly for
my destination and managed to get there before the storm burst out in its full
fury.
A week later, when I was
heading back home to Ontario,
on the airplane, I recalled the magnificent beauty of the double rainbow
scenario. I decided to document what I had seen.
As I was writing, I became
aware that only God Himself has the ability to paint a picture like that for
us. I also realized that every person has the innate potential of God's Holy
Spirit within him or herself. God's Holy Spirit is the Artist who dwells within
us whether we paint pictures with paint, or merely with words.
Where does my inspiration come
from? I know it comes from God's Holy Spirit, the Artist within me.
